Palace of Fine Arts
Description: Before flying to San Francisco I did a bit of research into the area around the studio I was visiting. Viewing the location in Google Earth really helps to give you an idea of the surroundings. I was surprised to see this massive roman like structure near the bay. I learned that the area known as Presidio was once the grounds of a World's Fair back in 1913. San Francisco held the event to attract more tourists after the devastating earthquake of 1906. Not much is left standing from the World's Fair, this structure is the most significant. Absolutely beautiful and massive. In this shot you can see someone walking between the center columns. Just gives you an idea of how large this place is.

Many thanks for clearing up the great mystery which we were struggling with concerning that strange structure resembling a temple in your initial picture of the Presidio area. We like the artistic composition which the photographer (somebody we know?) used in composing the picture. Aren't those Corinthian columns Chris? We think that those capitals (on the top) represent acanthuses. What do you think?

Love and best wishes.
