Description: Welcome to nowhere, seriously. This was a dead zone. Nothin but flat straight roads and white sand... with maybe one or two weird sites, like this one.

Shot this while driving on Interstate 80 in Salt Lake, Utah. Day 4 of our trip driving from Toronto to San Francisco back in August.

I love this picture. Its almost like they placed this strange thing in the middle of the desert to prevent driving hypnosis.

Your probably right. One thing i didnt mention is that along the side of the road you could see traces of where a burnt vehicle once stood. Also lots and lots of black stones litter the side, and whenever someones car broke down or ran out of gas you could see people tried to keep themselves busy while waiting for help by leaving messages with the stones. Not only that but there were lots of crosses and flowers marking where someone had died. I would not want to travel this stretch at night. So easy to fall asleep at the wheel here.

Ok. Now I am really creaped out by this picture. It makes it very errie. Perhaps they should have more to look at along the way so that there are less deaths. But I guess if you are driving in the desert its "driver beware". I still love the picture though.
